The baritone Georg Lehner was born in Vienna. After studying the oboe and working as an oboist with the Vienna Symphony and Philharmonic, he switched to singing. Studies and diploma (opera, song, oratorio) at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, with KS Hilde Rössel-Majdan and KS Walter Berry.
Engagements as an opera, operetta, lied and oratorio singer in Japan (e.g. Tokyo National Opera), the USA (e.g. Rockport Chamber Music Festival, Lincoln Center, NYC), Central America (Mexico City Bellas Artes) and almost all European countries (Bregenzer Festival, ECOV in Ghent, Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, Volksoper and State Opera in Vienna, Musikverein, Konzerthaus and the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome).
In 2012 he founded the “Schubertiade im 8ten” in Vienna’s Josefstadt. Television productions with the RSO Madrid (“Fledermaus” and “Zigeunerbaron”) as well as numerous CD recordings and radio broadcasts with masses, oratorios and songs. The song is part of Georg Lehner’s artistic focus, as is “Die Schöne Müllerin” with a recitation by Peter Matić at MuTh, Vienna and “Winterreise” in New York and Boston. Since 2015 he has been leading a class for solo singing at the Richard Wagner Conservatory in Vienna.
