The Viennese mezzo-soprano Christiane Marie Riedl is known for her multi-faceted playing and versatile voice. As a top prize winner in the competitions “Prima la musica”, “International Nico Dostal Operetta Competition”, “Classic Mania” and winner of the “Richard Wagner Bayreuth Scholarship”, she was engaged several times during her studies. Tours in Mexico, Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic and Slovakia followed.
The 2012 – 2014 seasons took the young singer to the Staatstheater Nürnberg, where she appeared in main roles such as Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Flora Bervoix (La Traviata), Roßweiße (Valkyrie), Rosina (Kleiner Barbier), Cherubino (Cherubino), Contessa di Coigny (Andrea Chenier), Mercedes (Carmen), Second Nymph (Rusalka), Junon (Platee), Noble Lady and 2nd Gypsy (Die Hugenotten) and as Pastorello (Tosca) was able to celebrate great success.
Her career was strongly influenced by conductors such as H. Niquet, M. Bosch, P. Pointner, G. Prießnitz, W. Kobera and A. Fischer.
At the beginning of 2014, the Viennese mezzo-soprano made her debut as Nancy in her hometown at the Volksoper Wien under the outstanding direction of Brigitte Fass tapes in B. Britten’s “Albert Herring”. The 2015 – 2019 seasons took her to the Vienna Volksoper again, where she again embodied Nancy (Albert Hering), Mercedes (Carmen) and Dorothea (Viva la Mamma) under the direction of Rolando Villazón, and to the Musikalische Komödie Leipzig, as Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), to the Theater Bonn, as 2. Nymphe (Rusalka), to the Stadttheater Baden, as Hederl (Dreimäderlhaus) and Belotte (Madame Pompadour), as well as a stand-in at the Theater Erfurt (Carmen) and Theater Ulm, where she as Flora Bervoix (La Traviata) made her debut.
Her concert activities take her throughout Europe, several times as part of the festivals “Concerts dans les Iles” (GR), “Les salons de la mélodie” (B, NL) and “Festival du Vexin” (F), but also to renowned concert halls in Austria – 9th Symphony (L. v. Beethoven) in the Brucknerhaus Linz, Léhar Gala in the Konzerthaus Vienna, etc. In the 2019 – 2020 season she devoted herself to new roles such as Diana (Orfeus in the Underworld), the role of Metella (Lehar Festival Bad Ischl) and Valencienne (The Merry Widow Theater Fürth).
In 2020, Christiane Marie Riedl conquered new territory for her and worked more in front of the camera (productions BR, Kabel 1, advertising, etc.). A CD recording of forgotten artists by Güns and the Pleyel Festival dominated the 2021 season. In the new 2022 season, the role of Elvira awaits, a Concert series in Belgium, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and the revival of the Valencienne on it.
As a graduate and student of the Universities of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Graz and Banska Bystrica (SK) for concert singing, music education and instrumental music education (singing, piano and violin), the native of Vienna was invited to master classes of the personalities P. Dvorsky, C. Visca, S. Livorová and E. Blahová selected. She found her personal color and her incomparable personal style through the fruitful work with Prof. D. Livorová.
Also competitive sport as a member of the Austrian national team for Latin American dance, through which she took part in world and European championships and won the magnificent 7th place for Austria, impressively influenced her stage presence.
