The lyric soprano Kathelijne Wagner was born in Leiden/Netherlands and grew up in Germany. She began her singing studies at the opera school of the HfM Karlsruhe with Maria Venuti and continued at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz with Cynthia Grose. She did her master’s degree at the “CODARTS -Hogeschool voor de Kunsten” in Rotterdam / Netherlands with Prof. Roberta Alexander.
 
Kathelijne received important impulses in master classes with Gabriele Lechner, Ulf Bästlein, Hilde Zadek, Marjon Lambriks and Charles Spencer and is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation “Live Music Now”.
 
In 2012 she wonl the silver medal at the “Concours international pour jeunes solistes” in Luxembourg and in 2014 both the jury prize and the audience prize at the “Prix d’Harmonie te Rotterdam”. In 2012/2013 she was a member of the young ensemble of the Staatstheater Mainz. Her opera repertoire includes several lyrical soprano roles and ranges from Belinda in Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas” to Mozart’s Zerlina and Lauretta in Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi”.
 
The young soprano loves the operetta repertoire and portrays the roles of Ciboletta (Strauss / One Night in Venice), Raka (Abraham / The Flower of Hawaii) and Beatrice (Suppé / Boccaccio). She sang a diverse concert repertoire with well-known conductors such as Ralf Otto, Sylvain Cambreling, Arie van Beek and Giovanni Antonini and his renowned baroque orchestra “Il giardino armonico”.
 

She gained ensemble experience in the Kammerchor Stuttgart under the direction of Frieder Bernius. Radio recordings at radio4 and SWR document their work. Since the 2015/2016 season, Kathelijne has been engaged at the Theater für Niedersachsen in Hildesheim, where she sang roles such as Esmeralda in Smetana’s “The Bartered Bride”, Arsena in Strauss’ “Zigeunerbaron”, Cephisa in Telemann’s “Orpheus” and Rapunzel in the musical “Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim. She is also currently engaged at the Opernmobil Hannover, where she performed the role of Stella in Paul Lincke’s operetta “Frau Luna” and most recently the role of Anastasia in “Die Csárdásfürstin” by Emmerich Kálmán.

Recently she sang the role of “Ildegarde” in Francesco Gasparini’s new opera “Hamlet” or “Ambleto” at the Theater für Niedersachsen.
