Julin Henao

Tenor

Young tenor Julian Henao from Colombia is praised for his soft, elegant voice and brilliant timbre. He was part of the Young Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien and has since sung Othello at the Rossini Festival Pesaro, Jaquino in Glyndebourne and at the Burgtheater in Vienna.

His repertoire includes Lurcanio in Handel’s Ariodante, Mengone in Haydn’s Lo speziale, Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Remendado in Bizet’s Carmen, Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore or Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, but also the tenor roles in Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and in various cantatas and masses by J.S. Bach and Mozart.

Since the 2016/17 season he has been part of the Young Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien and has already appeared in Verdi’s La traviata, Handel’s Oreste, Salieri’s La scuola de’ gelosi and most recently as Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and as Pélleas in Debussy’s Pélleas et Mélisande to experience.

Julian Henao Gonzalez studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, among others. He is a prize winner of several singing competitions. In addition to his opera work, he regularly sings classical tango concerts with the Vienna Tango Quintet.
